She was missing a few choice items of clothing. This and that, her favourite dress, and a few hair things. And she knew where they were. Wes' room.

She was pretty damn sure Wes didn't stay, even after the promise he made when she was first celled. The thing is, she wasn't sure she wanted to believe him anymore. Or if she could.


That said, s'why she was jimmying the door to Wes' room open, skillfully.

Sadly for her, Wes is in his room, sitting on his bed and trying futilely to get his datapad to work.

That is, he was until someone starting breaking into his room. Now he's standing by the door with his blaster in his hand; he raises it to aim when the door opens.

"--oh."

[velocitygirl]

She stares at him for a long moment, then straightens, and whirls around. "This isn't my room!"

She looks around wildly for a moment, then pushes past him and looks for her things.

Wes holsters his blaster and watches her, mildly confused for a moment. Then he shakes his head and leans back against the closed door.

"No," he agrees, and points to the other side of the room, where the two piles of things still sit. "Your stuff's there, if 's what you're here for."

Of course, he doesn't know what else she'd be here for.

She stops in front of the piles and eyes them, before picking up a few things out of hers. "You have a bag?"

Inyri turns around, holding a dress to her chest. "I'm out, by the way."

In case he didn't gather.

"Yeah, I ... noticed."

He glances around the room for a bag, avoiding looking at her, then crouches down to search under his bed. He triumphantly comes up with a small rucksack (though he has no idea how it got there).

"Uh, here. This okay?"

"It'll work." She takes it from him and stoops, her hair creating a curtain around her face. She puts her things in the bag, squishing them all in before standing.

"Thanks. I guess."

[undignified]

"...you're welcome," he replies, just as uncertain.

"Are you-- how are you? Now you're out and all."

It's still a bit of a silly question, but he'd feel bad if he didn't ask anything.

She shrugs. "He's dead. I'm out of jail. What is possibly wrong with my life at this moment?"

It's such a loaded question.

Wes bites his lip and shrugs in return, hands in his pockets.

"I don't know. You tell me."

[velocitygirl]

She crosses her arms, the bag at her feet and just smiles tightly. "I'll let you know if it gets worse than it already has."

[undignified]

"I'm sure you will," he says cynically, not looking away from her face. "Are you gonna stay here? In the bar, I mean. Or--?"

[velocitygirl]

She shrugs. "I don't know. I'm sure you won't mind either way."

Her eyes search his for a moment. "So why'd you stay?"

[undignified]

He frowns at the first remark, but doesn't respond to it.

"Cause I said I would," he says simply.

It's a good enough reason for him.

[velocitygirl]

"Uh-uh." She shakes her head. "You and I aren't good right now Wes, especially after your visit in the cells. There's no reason for you to be here, is there?"

Since he denied that she needed him.

"I'm here cause I said I would be," he repeats firmly, hands by his side now. "Doesn't matter whether we're good or not. You're still--"

He hesitates. He doesn't know what Inyri is to him; he never really has.

"I keep my promises," he finishes instead.

[velocitygirl]

She shakes her head again, almost disappointed. "All right." Her tone of voice says it's anything but all right. "I'll see you later. Or not. Whatever."

She picks up her back to move out of his room, but stops. "Wes," She murmurs, almost pleadingly. But between thinking of his name, and saying it, she loses her confidence and shrugs. "Bye."

"Whatever," Wes echoes, frowning again.

"--no, don't do that, don't leave that like that." He steps quickly between her and the door. "Just -- if you don't want to see me again, tell me. Make a decision."

[velocitygirl]

She jerks back as he steps in front of her. And gives him an incredulous look. "You are telling me to make up my mind? I do so love the fact you are so kriffing hypocritical."

"Yeah, so maybe I am." He doesn't move, just stands there staring back at her. "Doesn't mean I'm wrong, does it?"

[velocitygirl]

"You know what?" She takes a step forward, eyes flashing. "You tell me. This is totally up to you, Wes. Do you want to see me again?"

[undignified]

It's different if it's his decision, and alarm crosses his face for a moment before he narrows his eyes in a glare.

"Don't do that. It's not-- I want to know what you want. I asked first."

[velocitygirl]

She snorts and hefts the bag back up on her shoulder. "It isn't my decision. You're the one who kicked me out this time."

Now she grits her teeth, angry. "You know how I feel about you and you know that I'd like you to stick around. So cut it out."

He opens his mouth to argue at first, even though she's right, but then he stops, glare fading.

"No," he says, mildly confused. "I don't-- I didn't. I don't know what you think anymore. But if you do want to see me again, then I'll stick around. Just don't make it cause you think you still need me or something."

[velocitygirl]

"Wes." She snarls, reaching forward and grabbing his shirt suddenly and angrily. "Stop it. Do not stay if it's just because I'll make a sad face. Do what you want. And don't tell me what I think."

He narrows his eyes again and jerks backwards, hitting the door with a thud; he ignores the pain as he hits his head.

"I didn't. I said if. If I'm wrong, I believe you," in a tone that clearly says he doesn't. "But what I want doesn't matter. No point in me wanting to see you if you don't wanna see me."
