Most sensible beings believe the Black Sun criminal empire is a mere myth--it's power, scope, and galactic influence are too staggering to otherwise fathom. In this case, however, the paranoid and demented are actually in the right. For the vast majority of the galaxy, Black Sun simply doesn't exist; in point of fact, the exact opposite is true: There is nothing and no one this sprawling criminal organization does not know about.

Black Sun is controlled by a so-called "Underlord" who employs a council of nine
Vigos (Old Tionese for "nephew") to run the organization's various nefarious activities and trades. Though Black Sun's leadership was decimated by a Dark Lord of the Sith sometime prior to the Battle of Naboo (see file 1143.9873-DR), reports indicate that its efficient infastructure has since turned that setback into an advantage. After an ambitions lieutenant known as Perhi claimed the mantle of Underlord, he took advantage of the situation to sink Black Sun further into the shadows. Perhi was eventually replaced by Black Sun's current charismatic leader, Princ Xizor of the House Sizhran of Falleen, who has since expanded and streamlined operations from the Outer Rim Territories to the Galactic Core. Under the acumen of Xizor, Black Sun is becoming even more of a threat (and useful tool) than the Hutt crime families; in its feud with the Desilijic, the Besadii kajidic has already inextricably indebted itself to the Dark Prince. Prince Xizor's royal house and family were incinerated in an orbital bombardment ordered by Darth Vader a number of years ago. Xizor has harbored a grudge against Vader ever since that may prove beneficially exploitable in the coming years.

Contraband: A sampling of illegal drugs
Crude: A hard hitting psychotropic sold by slythmongers in small capsules. Crude's appeal is its regression of an individual's inhibitions in proportion to the depth of his, her or it's insecurities, prompting the feverishly selfish pursuit of one's basest impulses.
Death Sticks: Ixetal cilona inhalable; can be smoked or crushed. Galactic trade of this product was originally dominated by the Bando Gora cult, which was exterminated by Jango Fett. Black Sun agents filled the vacuum soon after.
Glitterstim: The most well-known class of "spice" in the galaxy. Oral consumption of glitterstim yields the user limited telepathic abilities for a short period as well as heightened abilities of comprehension and assessment. The keen-minded Imperial Grand Admiral Miltin Takel is a glitterstim addict.
Narcotic Incense: A highly addictive aromatic smoke. When burned and inhaled, it either stimulates or depresses the central nervous system, inducing diverse states of ecstasy. Prolonged exposure has absolutely lethal effects.
Lesai: A purple mold reaped from the scales of a lizard in the Zebitrope system. Popular among the ambitiously minded, this drug effectively terminates the need for sleep and extends life spans by a third. Persistent use is said to destroy the moral centers of the brain.
Xabar: A deep violet fungus from Xagobah, its tentacles release a toxin causing total, though temporary, muscular paralysis. Because of its rigor mortis-like effects, Xabar is popular among street youths curious about the afterlife.
