“Yeah, Mom…I know.” Bekah sighed into the comm as she wandered their aunt’s house. Inyri looked up from her seat on the couch, with the children in various states of sleepiness around her. Bekah made a face at the comm and continued talking. “I know, Mom. I know. Look, can we talk about the house?”

Inyri shifted Cayleigh on her lap, touching a dark curl at the little girl’s ear, listening to the one sided conversation. Tylo murmured something in his sleep, and threw his arm out, smacking his brother in the chest, who merely grunted.

“Yeah, Mom. I know. Just look…send the files to us…Inyri will sign them, the house will go to her, and she can stop worrying about finding a place to stay. You know she’ll do a good job—yes. Yeah, she’s in the room with me. Yes, Mother…fine, here she is.”

Inyri shook her head as Bekah thrusted the comm at her, giving her a look. “Take it,” she hissed. Inyri sighed and took it, moving quickly to not disturb the children.

“Mom.”

“Inyri, I think it’s great that you want to take the house…it’s just…expensive and—“

Inyri pinched her nose. “I have retirement pay. And I have a job—“

“—You do?” Myda sounded surprised. “Doing what?”

“I work as a receptionist for now. Till I figure out if I want to go back to school or something…or go work for the NR in some way. Just…Mom, give the papers.”

Myda sighed. “Alright. Now, if you need anything while you are getting things set up—“

“Bekah’s here, call you or Dad, and I’ve got four other siblings too. I know, Mother.”

“Right. I’ll send the papers, then. Uh…good luck, sweetie.”

“Thanks.” Inyri quickly turned the comm off…looked over at Bekah and grinned brightly. Bekah grabbed her by the arm and together the two sisters went running out onto the porch, where they jumped around and squealed and jumped some more.

“It’s mine! The house is mine!!” Inyri beamed, jumping up and down high.

“Mom?” Tylo’s small voice came from the door as he and his siblings watched their mother and aunt jump around insanely.

“I think they’ve gone mad,” Cade whispered to Cayleigh and Tylo. Tylo nodded wisely as Cayleigh tried to fit her fist in her mouth.

And that was that. And all was well. If not insane.
